Luis Javier Erazo Gallo
Luis is an Innovation Project Manager, Startup Mentor and Entrepreneurship Educator, with a bachelor in Electronic Engineering from the University of Narino (Colombia), a Masters in Information Technology from the University of Technology Sydney (Australia), an Entrepreneurship Specialization from the University of Pennsylvania (US), and an global license as Professional Project Manager (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
His journey started using his degree in Electronic Engineering to design for good, like using electromechanical sensors for early detection of volcanic activity in his beloved hometown Pasto; facilitating electronic circuits design workshops for communities in remote areas in Colombia; or building a company called EcoDriving which mission to alleviate global warming using electronic control units in cars to reduce gas emissions.
Later he worked for the Colombian Government to create programs and educate rural schools teachers to build more creative learning environments incorporating computer-based technologies and digital skills in their pedagogic practices to reduce the digital gap of disadvantaged communities. He later built a career in the corporate IT services industry from entry-level positions to managerial roles leading projects in South and North America.
Luis moved to Australia in 2016 and while studying his postgraduate degree he started working at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit at the University of Technology Sydney teaching programs in design thinking, lean startup and entrepreneurship, which gave him the opportunity to mentor hundreds of entrepreneurs on local incubators and accelerators programs. Last year he was invited to be a mentor at the NSW Department of Education where over 4000 high-school students in Australia worked in teams to develop an innovative idea to help protect the night sky at Siding Spring Observatory.
Currently, he is the Latam Director and Innovation & Academic Manager at the Academy of Entrepreneurs and Casual Academic for Entrepreneurship & Commercialization at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Before joining his current company he was a Project Manager at WiseTech Global, one of the largest public-listed technology companies in Australia.
